About this site

The institutional history of physical therapy: its schools, societies, wards and apparatus, 1813 onward.

Fisio covers the trade's institutional record in five sections. Stockholm follows the line from Per Henrik Ling's Royal Gymnastic Central Institute of 1813 to the royal charter of 1920 and the World Confederation of 1951. The Polio Years takes the 1916 and 1949–52 epidemics in dated figures. Apparatus treats the machines as documented objects. People follows practitioners with a published record, and Buildings reads the wards and institutes as institutional architecture.
